New AA Baggage PolicyAmerican Airlines has announced that they will be enforcing a $15 fee on the first piece of checked luggage. This fee will be assessed in each direction for a trip. Therefore the total fee a traveler would pay for a typical roundtrip checking in a single piece of luggage would be $30.
This new policy will take effect on tickets purchased on or after June 15, 2008. It will apply to domestic economy tickets only. High-level frequent flyers and those purchasing full-fare economy tickets will be exempted from the charge.
American also charges passengers $25 for a second bag and $100 each for the third, fourth and fifth bags. These fees apply to bags that meet American's weight and size requirements. Pieces that exceed these requirements ...
